FOR EVERY SCOUT GOING, I need a response to this email with the following info:
- Are you going with your scout?
- If not, do they have a ride identified? Easy for Scouts going up Friday - just
have to arrange seats,
which we have plenty of.
- Is your Scout going up Friday or coming up Saturday?
- Does your scout have any special dietary needs or medications I need to know
about?
Big note for individual scouts: Dress for cold wet weather. Boots!
Not Cotton clothes. Snow gear and layers - it got hot last time and all the coats
ended up in the sled.
- Patrol Leader: Caleb
- Assistant Patrol Leader: Dane
- Quartermaster: Ryan
- Sr Patrol Leader: Michael - will coordinate with Adults and help assure the succes
of the patrol.
Other members so far - let me know if we missed someone on this list of if other
folks want to go:
- Michael Morrow - can fill the Sr. Patrol Leader roll for this event and liaison
with Adult leadership.
- Brandon
- Devon
- Noah
- Daryn
- Jarrett?
- Andrew
- Daniel?
Things to complete:
- finalize and practice cheer.
- Create flag
- come up with a bribe for town mayors and key klondike staff.
- secure picture and addresses for key klondike folks - per packing list.
- Meal plan - consensus was to stay over night (IE go up friday).
- Vehicle plan - who is riding with whom.
Caleb is leading these towns:
- Skagway Theater - 5 minutes worth of Skits
- Donner Pass Message: something with signaling with snow shoes.
- Nugget Junction: Tarp block toss.
Dane is leading these towns:
- Sam Magee's Oven: Quickly build a fire and boil an egg in a paper cup (chosen over
flapjack). Note:
Will Rau owns a cast iron tripod that might be very helpful for this.
- Bennett Wood Yard: Bucksaw
- Yukon Knots: tie 8 knots in 5 minutes and explain their uses.
Please find Will's knot course guide with illustrations and explanations attached.
Ryan is leading these towns:
- Juneau: complete gear per list on sled.
- White Horse Log Lift: toss rope over 10 ft spar and suspend log with Timber hitch,
clove hitch, and
sheep shank. See attached knotGuide for the sheep shank with marlin
spike hitches - the only recommended sheep shank in the Ashley book of knots.
- Frozen to death valley: pitch tent and boil a cup of water to make cocoa. Rumor
is that marshmallows
score bonus points here.
- Compass Rose: Memory challenge.
All: Race - though one person might want to take charge on how the group is organized
on this one.
